Rumesha Pererage

Chemistry

Position:
PhD Candidate in Chemistry, UConn

Research Interests:

My research centered on development of active membranes for electrochemical filtration.

Current Research:

I am currently exploring the development of active membranes for CO₂ reduction, where the integration of graphene within polyamide matrices provides both electrical conductivity and structural integrity. In parallel, I am investigating the use of these membranes for environmental remediation applications, including desalination and removal of heavy metal contaminants from aqueous systems by changing chemistry of membranes.

Education:

  • PhD in Chemistry, University of Connecticut, Expected 2026.
  • BS in Chemistry, University of Peradeniya (UOP), Sri Lanka 2013-2017.

Previous Work:

  • Teaching assistant Department of chemistry UOP, Sri Lanka. (2018 -2019)
  • Teaching assistant Department of Applied Science, UOP, Sri Lanka (2019-2021)
  • Teaching assistant Post graduate institute of science, UOP, Sri Lanka (2018 to 2019)
